Moers amusement park – Opened
In collaboration with our colleagues Förder Landschaftsarchitekten from Essen, we were awarded first place for the design of the approx. 3 ha leisure park and the approx. 3,000 m² skate park integrated into it. Our concept for the skate park places a special focus on noise protection, which we will implement through the location and nature of the elements. We are also taking into account the future fun and challenge for all skaters in Moers through areas with different levels of difficulty. There will be a pool area for beginners, as well as a snakerun and an extensive plaza.
The jury in Moers wrote about their decision: “With their central idea, the authors have created an adequate and powerful replacement for the former lake area by placing a ‘water wall’ as a central, new element. The idea of a park for all is implemented coherently through the consistent zoning of the individual functional areas. The planned path framework allows all areas to be connected while at the same time offering the possibility of using different circular paths. The relocation of the art trail to the edge of the open meadow area and at a respectful distance from the Moersbach stream is appropriate and enables a better reception of the sculptures thanks to the prominent arrangement.
The location of the skate park in the southern area follows the noise protection recommendations and appears to be sensibly arranged, even if the noise protection measures still need to be revised. The planning of the grandstand facility between the skate park and plaza is a good idea, as it separates the different areas of use from each other and at the same time offers views on both sides…”
The bike and skate park could be officially opened at the beginning of May 2024 as part of the first construction phase.
